Led by sculptor and certified mindfulness instructor Meg Stein, the class invites participants to engage in hands-on sculpting while practicing embodied meditation, which fosters deeper self-connection and artistic expression. Stein begins with a relaxing guided meditation and offers participants prompts on how to create a self-expressive sculptural form using air-dry clay, mixed-media materials, and acrylic paint. The workshop also includes time for Stein to give one-on-one sculptural advice and guidance to each participant. Everyone can expect to leave with at least one completed sculpture. Past participants have often shared that the workshop experience is rejuvenating, surprising, cathartic, and fresh each time. Supplies are included, and all skill levels are welcome. Participants are invited to attend just as they are; there’s no need to know anything about mindfulness or sculpture in order to benefit from the exercises in this workshop. About the instructor Meg Stein, CFP, MFA (she/they), is an interdisciplinary visual artist primarily working in sculpture and social practice. In addition to her work as a visual artist, Stein is a facilitator and embodied mindfulness guide. She lives and works in Durham, NC, where she spends as much time as she can hiking, kayaking, and being among the trees. You can learn more about her visual art at megstein.com and more about her embodied mindfulness work at aliveandawarepractice.com.
