What is this?

Join us as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with our film tribute, Cincinnati Goes to The Movies. Our final film in the series is Eight Men Out (1988). Directed by John Sayles, this film depicts the Chicago White Sox who are set to play the Cincinnati Reds in the World Series of 1919. The White Sox are at odds with their team’s owner who pays his players unsatisfactory wages despite the team’s popularity. A group of professional gamblers offers the Sox’s best athletes a fortune to throw the series with the Cincinnati Reds and the players agree. However, their reputations and careers are ruined when the dark secret, dubbed the Black Sox Scandal, reaches the public awareness. The Over-The-Rhine district in Cincinnati, Ohio, was used to represent 1919 Chicago due to its intact 19th-century buildings. Runtime: 2 hours Rated: PG
