What is this?
Where do the Museum’s Archaeology and Collections teams do their work? What happens to artifacts once they are conserved? Find out in this free behind-the-scenes tour of our Nautical Archaeology Center! Take a glimpse into the workspace of an archaeologist and try your hand at treating some iron objects in our Conservation Lab. See the brand-new collections storage area and help our staff rehouse some artifacts into their beautiful new homes. Tours are one hour each and require prior registration. Free sixty-minute tours will run every hour at the following times: 10:00 AM 11:00 AM Tour groups will meet at the Hoehl Family Visitor and Education Center, and your guide will bring you across campus to our Nautical Archaeology Center, where the tour will take place. The space is climate-controlled and can be accessed via paved path and ramp, with a few feet of traverse across grass. Please note that the conservation portion of this tour involves handling rusty metal (gloves and other necessary PPE will be provided).
