Once hailed by Ernest Hemingway as one of America’s best young writers, Lowry rose from a child prodigy from Linwood to a post-war literary star in Greenwich Village. A prolific novelist and O. Henry Award winner, Lowry had a series of successes in New York before mental illness eventually brought him back to Cincinnati, where he spent his final years as a regular at the Bay Horse.
