JWY 06 - Beginning/Intermediate Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design (Gindler)
What is this?
This course will teach traditional metalsmithing skills including sawing, piercing, texturing, shaping, and forming metal; soldering and cold connections, and bezel-setting cabochon gemstones. It is appropriate for beginners with no previous experience with metalsmithing, as well as for intermediate students. Students will learn to use and care for the tools of the craft, and will use them to make art jewelry of their own design, with an emphasis on wearability and comfort. Except for silver and gemstones, which students need to purchase themselves, all tools and materials will be provided and available in the studio. Supply sources will be discussed in the first class.
