What is this?
Beginner students will learn traditional metalsmithing techniques like piercing, soldering, forming, texturing and bezel setting to create jewelry of their own design or an assigned project. Intermediate students are self-directed but can explore more precision-based techniques such as prong setting, chain making, forging, and hollow construction. Emphasis will be placed on proper use of tools and materials to create beautiful, well-crafted and comfortable jewelry that will last years of wear. First two classes are demo heavy then students will have time to work on their projects for the remainder of the session. The instructor will give individual and group instruction throughout. Beginners can expect to make one to three projects in a session. All tools and materials are provided except gemstones and silver. Supply sources will be discussed at the first class. 8 week breakdown: Week 1: Studio tour and safety dance. Demos in piercing, drilling, annealing, soldering, roller printing. S
