It's A Freak Show Ace!: Author & Panel Discussion on The Jockey Club

What is this?

From 1982 to 1988, The Jockey Club in Newport KY was one of the most legendary punk venues in the midwest, hosting shows for touring acts like The Ramones, Husker Du, Black Flag and more - not to mention countless local bands. On July 12th, as part of our 2026 Meet Me At Main celebration, the Downtown Library is excited to host a panel discussion with people who were there: band members, street team and young patrons alike, including Kelli Evans, the author of It's A Freak Show Ace!, a new book of flier art from the club. We'll also be opening a new exhibit of original Jockey Club fliers and ephemera on the 3rd floor of the South Building!
