Moran Beverly Moran is the Paulus Endowment Senior Tax Fellow at BC Law, senior fellow at the Roosevelt Institute, and a professor emerita at Vanderbilt Law School. Previously, she served as the director of Vanderbilt Law’s LL.M. and Social Justice programs and as the first director of the Vanderbilt University Center for the Americas. Moran has also taught as a visiting professor at the University of Colorado, University of Asmara, University of Kentucky, Michigan State University, People’s University of China, Peking University, and University of Giessen. Ms. Moran is an expert in tax law, agency law, and partnerships. Her work focuses on various aspects of federal income taxation, including individuals, partnerships, tax-exempt organizations, and corporations. A leading authority on US tax law, Ms. Moran has testified before the House Ways and Means Committee on the proliferation of US tax havens and the Black Congressional Caucus on the race impacts of the Internal Revenue Code. Her work is extensively cited in the recent Treasury report on the race aspects of US tax laws. Her work has been published in The Oxford Handbook of Legal Studies, SMU Law Review, Journal of Law and Religion, and Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment and Technology Law among others. She has served on the executive committee of the Association of American Law Schools, the board of governors of the Society of American Law Teachers, and the American Bar Association Initiative on the Middle East and North Africa. Ms. Moran holds a master of law degree (LLM) in taxation from New York University School of Law; a JD from the University of Pennsylvania, Carey School of Law; and an AB from Vassar College.
