Beyond AI Detection: Designing Course Activities for Thinking and Learning in the Age of Generative AI
What is this?
How should teaching and learning evolve in the age of generative AI? This interactive workshop introduces IDEA (Instructional Design for AI Era Learning), a new framework for analyzing and redesigning course activities and assessments to preserve meaningful thinking, reasoning, productive struggle, and authentic learning in AI rich educational environments. Participants will explore the theoretical foundations of the IDEA framework, experience a live demonstration of a custom AI powered IDEA agent in ChatGPT, and analyze their own course activities and assessments using the tool. Faculty are encouraged to bring a laptop and a digital copy of a course activity or assessment for the hands on workshop portion.
